Suffolk Dog Day returns with a new face!

Every park, pet shop and poodle parlour was searched in the hunt to find the new poster girl or boy for Suffolk’s premier date in the canine calendar – Suffolk Dog Day – which makes its returns for the ninth successive year to Helmingham Hall on July 31st, 2016.

‘No bone was left unturned’ said Suffolk Community Foundation Director Tim Holder. ‘The county was well and truly scoured with literally hundreds of wannabe whippets, bashful bassets, curious collies and magnificent mongrels attempting to sniff out this Carte D’or of canine crowns.’

We can finally announce that the new face of Suffolk Dog Day 2016 is……..Pembroke – a one-year-old Welsh Terrier and Schnauzer cross. She beat off competition from more than two hundred hot hounds to win the heart of the judges.

Suffolk Dog Day is
a family day out in Suffolk, with all money raised from the day distributed to voluntary groups across Suffolk, through Suffolk Community Foundation. Suffolk Dog Day has raised over £350,000 for Suffolk charities over the past 8 years. Whilst the dogs have fun with their owners, we are all playing an important role in supporting those most in need in our local communities.

Returning to Helmingham Hall for its ninth year, the event is expected to attract up to 10,000 people. This year’s event will be bigger and better than ever with many new surprises to delight Suffolk pooches and their parents. There will be new doggie attractions, brand new demonstrations, fun dog agility activities including flyball and dog scurry to retrieve a dummy from the lake as well as a very exciting interactive opportunity to be pictured with your four legged friend at the Beaphar VW Camper Van with a very special prize for the winner. Add to this wonderful cuisine from around the world in the catering village and a tons of children’s entertainment and you have the perfect day out for all the family.

Tim Holder also said: “Our thanks go to around 150 volunteers and the
Suffolk Dog Day Committee who give up their time to ensure that it is a fantastic day out for everyone who attends. Thank you to the organisers, sponsors and stallholders for supporting this event for the benefit of local causes through Suffolk Community Foundation.”

Pembroke will be at Suffolk Dog Day on 31 July 2016. For more information about the event and to purchase tickets for the day itself visit www.suffolkdogday.com
