We are looking for a Head Gardener. This is a first class opportunity for someone with horticultural expertise and the vision to take the garden on into the future.
Head Gardener required for spectacular Grade 1 listed gardens in Suffolk, winner of the HHA/Christie’s Garden of the Year 2017.
The gardens are open to the public during the summer months and play host to many wonderful events throughout the year.
This is a first class opportunity for someone with horticultural expertise and the vision to take the garden on into the future. It is essential that the right candidate has humour, enthusiasm and integrity, as well as sharing the owners’ passion for the garden. They must be able to calmly manage the responsibility of the head gardener role.
We are looking for applicants who have:
A track record of horticultural expertise and creativity
An excellent knowledge of plants, how they grow and how to group them for best effect in all aspects of horticulture
The ability to manage a team working calmly and to the best of their abilities; create a positive and exciting atmosphere; and to roll up their sleeves and work alongside others or alone
Excellent communication skills: this will be essential both for your team and when working with other departments, particularly the events team
The ability to manage budgets
Knowledge of health & safety requirements
Good organisational skills
Flexibility in their approach
The salary is dependent on experience and will reflect PGG 2020 salary guidelines. There is the option of private accommodation on the estate.
