The Outer Beds
The four outer beds, edged in fragrant Hidcote lavender, showcase a rich tapestry of roses, each bed grouped by class to tell a story of their heritage. From the elegant R. x alba and species roses to the romantic R. centifolia and Moss roses, and from the historic R. gallica, Damask, and Bourbons to the vibrant ‘China’, R. rugosa, and Hybrid Perpetual roses, each collection offers a glimpse into the world of roses through the ages. Among them, spring bulbs, white foxgloves, blue and white Campanula persicifolia, and a variety of Geraniums and late-flowering perennials create a harmonious and ever-changing display.

The Inner Beds
At the heart of the Rose Garden lie the inner beds, edged in hyssop and brimming with a romantic profusion of David Austin roses, small shrubs, and herbaceous plants. These beds are designed to span the seasons, from the early blooms of hellebores to the late splendor of Fuchsias and Hibiscus. A striking brick pattern—a circle within a square within a cross—forms the centerpiece, planted with golden thyme and interspersed with Narcissi and Madonna lilies, ensuring year-round interest. From the central circle, the stone figure of Flora, garlanded with roses, stands watch over this enchanting scene, framed by the soft embrace of mature yew hedging.
