Music, moonlight and Helmingham - a magical combination
Psychedelic. Powerful. Pink Floyd.
20th March 2026
Helmingham Hall is excited to welcome guests for a set of intimate concert experiences, set beneath the glow of a giant moon in the magnificent Great Hall.
Join us on Friday 20th March at 8.30pm, as the acclaimed Kavolini string ensemble returns for an enchanting evening of classical music.
Kavolini, a dynamic string group based in Norfolk, was formed in 2015 by musicians who have performed with prestigious British orchestras such as the BBC Symphony Orchestra and the Academy of St Martin in the Fields. The ensemble’s members have also toured globally, working with renowned bands like Blur, The Cranberries, and The Pretenders.
Formed in 1965, Pink Floyd are regarded as pioneers of psychedelic and progressive rock, with a sound that continues to captivate generations. This atmospheric evening concert opens with Another Brick in the Wall from the band’s 1979 rock opera The Wall—a powerful track exploring themes of isolation and self-imposed exile.
The emotive Shine On You Crazy Diamond follows, a haunting tribute to founding member Syd Barrett, whose struggles with mental health and addiction led to his early departure from the band. The poignant Hey You, also from The Wall, deepens the sense of distance and desolation that runs through much of Floyd’s work.
The heart of the programme is devoted to The Dark Side of the Moon, widely regarded as Pink Floyd’s most iconic and influential album. Tracks such as Breathe, Time, Money, The Great Gig in the Sky and Us and Them showcase the band’s signature fusion of sonic experimentation and philosophical depth.
The concert draws to a close with two of Pink Floyd’s most beloved songs: the soaring Comfortably Numb and Wish You Were Here—a moving reflection on absence, memory and connection. Performed at 8:30pm in the candlelit setting of Helmingham’s Great Hall, this promises to be an unforgettable celebration of a truly legendary band.
